Ball cage type telescopic universal joint
Ball cage type telescopic universal joint, abbreviated as VL universal joint, has cylindrical inner and outer raceways, but the centerline of the cylinder is not parallel to the axis, but inclined at the same angle relative to the axis! And the inclination directions of adjacent raceways on the same part are opposite, forming a V-shape. After assembly, at the same circumferential position, the inclination direction of the inner and outer raceways is exactly opposite, that is, symmetrical intersection, and the steel ball is at the intersection of the inner and outer raceways. When the inner half shaft 7 intersects with the middle half shaft 1 at any angle, due to the control of the inner and outer raceways and the ball cage 6, all transmission steel balls are located on the bisector of the intersection angle between the shafts, thus achieving constant angular velocity transmission.
Due to the V-shaped arrangement of the inner and outer raceways of this type of universal joint along the circumference, and the axial movement of the inner and outer wheels during power transmission, the axial length of the front wheel is compensated, hence the name VL universal joint. The maximum allowable angle between the axles is 22, and the axial expansion and contraction can reach 45mm. Due to the torque transmitted by the inner and outer wheels through steel balls, the inner and outer wheels experience rolling friction during axial movement, with a friction resistance of 4. The angle range of the intersection of the two axes of the VL universal joint is 2025, which is greater than the angle range of the intersection of adjacent axes of the cross rigid universal joint, but less than the angle range of the intersection of the ball fork universal joint and the RF universal joint.
VL type universal joints are installed on the main reducer side of the car's steering drive axle, while fixed ball cage universal joints that cannot be axially extended are installed on the side near the wheel.
